What to Wear for your Boudoir Session

A few weeks ago, I had a woman email me. She had been interested in boudoir for a while, but she was so lost on what to wear for a boudoir session.
We chatted back and forth for a bit, and I mentioned that every client receives a complimentary wardrobe consultation. Along with this, I become your personal shopper and give you access to wholesale lingerie.
Immediately, she took the plunge and booked her session. When I met her a few days later, we went into full detail about what lingerie styles and colors would be best for her skin tone, hair color, and body type.
Does lingerie confuse you?
I totally get it. Where do you even start when shopping for what to wear for a boudoir session?
As far as underwear, should you bring thongs or boy shorts? Cheekies or bikinis? There’s definitely a difference in each type of panty.
Are push up bras better? Or maybe bralettes? It’s hard to know which one will make the girls look better if you don’t have experience.
What about teddies or bodysuits? Which is the most flattering?
It’s overwhelming and can be one of the reasons you avoid booking a session completely. But I want you to know…
Shopping doesn’t have to be hard!
This is where I come in. I LOVE lingerie and I LOVE shopping so I will do it all for you if you need. 🙂
I’ve been a boudoir photographer for over five years now. I’ve learned all the tips and tricks. I know what looks good on every body type, skin tone, and hair color. You’re in great hands!
I know how to flatter a woman’s body with beautiful light, shadows, and the right poses. This means that, to a point, the outfits don’t matter as much as the way it makes you feel. If you feel uncomfortable in the outfit, it will read all over your face. It is my job to ensure that your confidence is found and definitely shows through in your photos.
What to wear for your boudoir session?
With that being said though, I do have a few recommendations that I want to share with you.
Body suits are great for a few different reasons. They are typically form fitting. Bodysuits are great because they not only hold you in nice and tight, but they also show off the beautiful shape of your body in the most flattering way.
Adding a sheer skirt or even a sheer robe really comes in handy if you want a bit more detail. They also provide a little bit more coverage, while still being sexy and seeing your shape underneath.
High heels are always a game changer when talking about the length of your legs. Not a high heels kind of girl? Cowgirl boots or bear feet are always just as fun.
If this is a gift for that special person in your life, steal a button up shirt or sports jersey that he loves. Men love when we wear their shirts!
Are you a bride? White is always fun for bridal lingerie. I always recommend going all out since you are only a bride for a very short time. Think about packing your veil, garter, and wedding shoes to go with your white lingerie.
And of course black is ALWAYS classy, timeless, and can be very flattering.
Every woman is unique.
I want you to remember that every woman is unique and that means that every session should be unique as well. Sessions with Chelsey Dorr are created to represent you perfectly and that means outfits should be personalized, too.
